The Best Oil Filled Radiators:

Are you looking for the best portable possible option to warm your home?

prem11oilfilled11finradiator Best Oil Filled RadiatorsOil Filled radiators are one of the best options open to you. The beauty with a radiator of this type is the oil stores the energy (heat) and slowly transmits it through the casing into your room, therefore using less electricity than other standard heaters where an element directly warms the air.

I developed this site after looking for heating options in my own house. I had one downstairs room that due to its position in the house was always cold, as well as a conservatory that I wanted to make more comfortable on miserable winter days. I could not afford to put central heating into the conservatory and I didn’t want to run the central heating to warm just the one room downstairs so I decided to research the best affordable heating solution. That research is what I want to share here to help you make an informed decision on the best portable radiator for your requirements.

Oil Filled Radiator Construction

The standard construction is a number of hollow fins that contain a heavy oil that is heated by an element. Most models have a number of temperature settings as well as inbuilt timers, some digital and some analogue. It is important the oil is not burnt so does not require replacement at any time.

The oil which is a siloxanes has outstanding heat transfer properties as well as electrical insulation and flame proof properties.  The oil is simply a medium for storing the energy and slowly releasing it, rather like the bricks in a night storage heater. This slow release is what makes these heater far more efficient than other heating systems. Generally the heating element is in the bottom of the radiator and the convection currents generated by the heat warm the oil.

To power an oil filled heater all you need is a standard domestic socket, with a plug fused to the correcting rating. There is no requirement for any specialist installation,  again keeping costs down. Because of this they are also extremely portable, so can be moved easily to any room that needs heating.
